The Polish Meteorological Institute (IMGW) reports that September will likely be the warmest month in Poland in recent memory, with autumn temperatures remaining consistently high.
September’s Unseasonable Heat
According to the ECMWF EPS model published by the Polish Meteorological Institute, average maximum temperatures across the country will remain around 20°C (68°F) from September 8th to September 12th. The southern region will experience the most warmth, with temperatures ranging up to 22°C (72°F).
Continuation into Autumn Months
A slight cooling is expected starting September 15th, but temperatures will still hover between 16°C and 20°C (61°F to 68°F) for the rest of the month. Similar weather patterns should continue into the following two weeks, with average maximum temperatures around 17°C (63°F) in early October.
Long-term Climate Trends
Depending on the IMGW’s classification system, if more than 20 observed months from 1991-2020 fall within the same category, a month is classified as “above average” (if warmer than the norm), “below average” (if colder), or “average.”
