Polish Woman Faked as Psychologist for Decade, Hid in Germany

Authorities have apprehended Katarzyna O., who posed as a psychologist for nearly a decade and defrauded over 1,600 people in Poland.

Katarzyna O. pretended to be a psychologist from March 2020 to her arrest in 2022, tricking nearly 1,600 people, organizations, and the National Health Fund into believing she was qualified for her work in Nowa Sól, Poland.

Scale of the Fraud

The perpetrator had allegedly provided over 20,000 psychological services, inflicting a loss of over 1.3 million złoty on her victims.

The woman, who had been on the run since December 2022, was finally captured by authorities in Germany on July 22. She is now in Polish custody and has been ordered to undergo arrest pending trial, with a possible maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
