A 68-year-old man suspended a corroded mortar shell over the fence of his Garwolin County home, threatening to detonate it, but fortunately the bomb was found to be inactive, police reported.
Potential Suicide Bomber Threat in Górzno
On Monday (September 1st) around 4pm, residents of Kobyla Wola (in Górzno commune) faced a terrifying situation when a device resembling a mortar shell appeared on one of the properties’ fences. The report was immediately directed to the Garwolin County Police Command, thanks to which a patrol quickly arrived at the scene.
Saperzy Confirmed Non-Functional Device
A mine and pyrotechnic reconnaissance unit expert from the Garwolin County command confirmed that a corroded mortar shell was suspended on a string just a few meters from the public road. Although it did not pose an immediate threat, the situation was serious.
68-Year-Old Suspect Arrested
Police investigations revealed that the perpetrator was a 68-year-old neighbor who had been threatening the complainant and his grandmother with the same device for several days. On the day of the incident, the suspect threatened to detonate more similar devices, which instilled real fears in the victim.
