U.S. President Donald Trump announced that next year’s G20 summit will be held in Miami and invited Poland to attend, praising Poland’s new leadership.
Trump Confirms U.S. as G20 Host
Trump announced that the U.S. will host next year’s G20 summit, marking the first time the event will be held in the U.S. in almost 20 years. The meeting is planned for Trump’s Doral golf club near Miami, which he says is “just off the runway, the best location possible.”
Poland’s Invitation
During a press conference, Trump confirmed that Poland has been invited to the summit and praised the country’s new leadership under PM Nawrocki. “One of the biggest surprises. I was so happy I ran and he won. He’ll be a great leader for Poland,” Trump said.
Observer Status for Other Countries
Trump clarified that while G20 countries will be invited, other countries will also be able to attend as observers. “They will be observers but they can still speak. Poland is coming, actually I’ve already invited Poland. They were here recently,” Trump stated.
Russia’s Participation
When asked about potential Russian participation, Trump expressed interest, saying, “I haven’t thought about it, but it’s an interesting idea. I’d really like for Russia to participate.” However, Trump noted that Russia would likely only do so as observers and questioned whether they would want to.
