Polish Defense Ministry Spokesman on Drone Incidents: “We Cannot Draw a Line in the Sand of Where They Will Fly and Land”

Poland’s interior minister and defense minister met following multiple drone incursions over the past several weeks, as drones continue to enter Polish airspace from Belarus.

Meeting Between Government Officials

Poland’s Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration Marcin Kierwiński and Vice Premier and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz met to discuss methods of securing Poland’s airspace following drone incursions. The meeting came after a drone was found in Polatychnia, near the border crossing with Belarus in Terespol. Another drone’s remains were discovered in Majdan-Sielec, Lublin Voivodeship, while the previous month, a drone exploded in a field in Osiny near Łuków.

NATO Missile Defense and Military Preparedness

According to Jacek Goryszewski, the Colonel of the Operational Command of the Types of Armed Forces, “The first week of September has been a very intense period for our air defense. The Russian Federation conducted attacks on Ukrainian territory, and we know that over 2,000 drones have been launched into Ukrainian territory this week alone, with over 800 drones on the night of September 6 to 7.”

Persistent Security Threats

Rzecznik MSWiA Karolina Gałecka emphasized, “We are working with the Ministry of National Defense and our military to detect these objects as quickly as possible and inform civilians. We are monitoring every signal, whether from the internet, our systems, or from the Ukrainian side.”
