Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announces that Russian drones entered Polish airspace, warning of an extremely dangerous precedent for Europe while calling for a strong, coordinated response.
Polish Airspace Breached
Russia’s use of Iranian-made “Shahed” drones in the Polish airspace represents a significant escalation of the conflict. The Ukrainian Intelligence warned that “at least eight drone munitions were targeted towards Poland,” signaling Moscow’s aggression.
Casualties and Escalation Concerns
As many as 415 drones and 40 missiles have been used to attack Ukraine, further endangering not just Ukrainian civilians but also creating new threats for European neighbors such as Poland. One civilian has been killed in the ongoing attacks.
NATO Concerns Raised
Zelensky highlighted the risk of the conflict expanding beyond Ukraine and Europe, urging immediate action from NATO allies. “We’ve reached a new stage of escalation when Russia is allowed to operate Shahed drones in NATO member country’s airspace. This cannot be ignored,” he emphasized.
Appeal for Strong Response
The Ukrainian President called for a strong military response to deter Russian aggression. “We have tolerance limits,” Zelensky stated, “We need a strong deterrent that only comes with the right amount of weapons and a united response from Ukraine, Poland, and all European partners.”
