Belarus’ military chief confirmed that their air defenses shot down drones crossing into their territory late last week, some of which entered Polish airspace.
Russian Drones Detected Over Poland
The Belarusian military chief, Paweł Murawiejko, stated that on September 10th, they observed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) losing course during nighttime attacks between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. He went on to say that part of these drones were shot down by Belarusian air defenses over their territory.
Communication Between Poland and Belarus
Murawiejko mentioned that communication with Poland and Baltic countries continued from Tuesday at 11 pm until Wednesday at 4 am, providing information about the situation in the air and warning them of approaching UAVs towards their territories.
Concerns Over Drones
The head of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces also stated that this allowed the Polish side to quickly react to drone activities by sending their own patrols. Belarus will continue to fulfill its obligations in terms of air situation exchange with Poland and Baltic nations.
Origins of Drones
Earlier, General Jarosław Kraszewski suggested that the drone that crashed in Mniszków, near Opoczno, might have originated from Belarus, as it would have traveled more than 300 km from the border, exceeding operational limits of most UAVs.
