Russian military drones violated Polish airspace, prompting Premier Donald Tusk to announce anti-air operations after being alerted by top military commanders.
Russian Drones Violate Polish Airspace
Preliminary information about unauthorized military activities over Poland began circulating just after midnight. By 4am, the Operational Command of the Armed Forces issued a statement, confirming that Polish airspace had been repeatedly violated by drones during what they described as a Russian attack on targets within Ukraine.
Premier Tusk Confirms Response
Minutes after the alert was issued, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk took to X, writing: “An operation is underway related to the repeated violation of Polish airspace. Military forces used weapons against these objects. I am in constant contact with the President and Minister of Defense.” Tusk also stated that he had received a direct report from the operational commander.
Information on Drones Shot Down
In a subsequent post, Tusk revealed that drones had been shot down over Poland. “I received a report from the Operational Commander of the Armed Forces regarding drones that infiltrated our airspace and posed a potential threat. Operations continue,” the Premier added.
President Informed and Update
The National Security Bureau also confirmed that President Andrzej Duda had been informed of the situation. “The President of the Republic of Poland is being kept up to date on the situation regarding violations of Polish airspace,” BBN reported.
