Shooting at Utah Valley University

Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and adviser to former President Donald Trump, was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was shot once and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Trump’s response

Following the shooting, Trump urged supporters to pray for Kirk’s recovery, writing on his social media, “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. He is a wonderful guest from start to finish. Let God bless him.”

Kirk’s role in Trump’s administration

Kirk served as an adviser to Trump, assisting in the selection of members of his cabinet. He is also a close friend of the former president’s eldest son, Donald Jr.

Conservative activist with controversial views

Kirk, known for spreading conspiracy theories, is one of the most prominent conservative activists who supported Trump. As co-founder of Turning Point USA, he promoted conservative views in high schools and universities. Kirk has claimed that the 2020 elections were fraudulent and praised the mobilization on January 6, 2021, which led to the attack on the Capitol. He also spreads conspiracy theories about COVID-19 and denies climate change.
