UN Secretary-General’s Warning

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres warned of the “real risk” of the war in Ukraine spreading beyond the country’s borders after Russian drones entered Polish airspace.

International Response

Leaders from across Europe and the world showed solidarity with Poland after Russian drones penetrated Polish airspace. Germany, France, the Netherlands, the UK, the Czech Republic and Baltic states view the Russian drones entering Poland as a threat to their collective security.

Russian Denials and NATO Support

Russia denies sending drones into Polish territory, while the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte pledged that the Alliance is prepared to defend every inch of its member states’ territory together.

U.S. and Ukrainian Presidents’ Statements

The U.S. president, Donald Trump, has maintained a stance of restraint in assessing the situation and has not condemned Russia’s actions against Poland nor expressed solidarity with Warsaw. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, meanwhile, declared his readiness to share information that could help Poland build a better surveillance system.
