Belarus has released 52 prisoners, including Poles and several other nationalities, as a result of negotiations with the United States.
Delegation and Release Details
A delegation led by the United States has traveled to Vilnius to continue negotiations in Minsk. Accordingly, 52 prisoners of various nationalities have been released, as reported by the U.S. embassy spokesperson in Vilnius.
Polish Involvement
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among those released are Polish citizens. Ministry spokesperson Paweł Wroński stated that the Ministry would soon provide information about who was released.
Other Nationalities
The released prisoners also include two citizens of Lithuania, two citizens from Germany and Latvia, and one citizen from France and the United Kingdom.
Czechousek’s Release
In June, Aleksandr Lukashenko released 14 prisoners, including Siarhiej Cichanouski. His wife, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, thanked U.S. President Donald Trump, Keith Kellogg, the U.S. Department of State, and “allies” from the European Union for their efforts.
