Afghan Man Arrested at Poland-Belarus Border Over Soldier Attacks and Migrant Smuggling

Polish border guards, working with military police, arrested Ahmad K., an Afghan national suspected of attacking Polish soldiers serving on the Belarus border and coordinating migrant smuggling routes, according to Warsaw prosecutors.

Arrest and Charges

On September 10, 2025, Poland’s Border Guard and military police detained Ahmad K., wanted on an international warrant by the 8th Section of Warsaw’s Military Prosecutor’s Office. The Afghan national is suspected of multiple attacks on Polish soldiers serving on the border with Belarus.

Suspended Sentence and Penalties

The prosecutor charged Ahmad K. with active aggression against Polish soldiers and following a preliminary investigation, submitted a request for his temporary detention. The court agreed and placed him in pre-trial detention for three months. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
