Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski vehemently denied Russia’s claim that the drone intrusion was an error.
Trump’s Verbal Response
President Donald Trump addressed the intrusion of Russian drones into Polish airspace during a press conference prior to his departure from the White House. Polish Radio correspondent Marek Wałkuski asked him about his stance on the incident: “It could have been a mistake, but I am not satisfied with any part of this situation,” Trump responded.
Foreign Minister’s Rebuke
In a posting on X (formerly Twitter), Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski dismissed Russia’s explanation as unfounded. Earlier, Sikorski had emphasized that given the 19 airspace violations by a dozen drones over seven hours, it was unreasonable to claim it was an error.
UN Security Council Meeting
The United Nations Security Council will hold an extraordinary session on September 12 at 21:00 Polish time to address Russia’s violation of Polish airspace. Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki will represent Poland at the meeting. Politicians hope this will draw global attention to the unprecedented attack on a NATO, EU, and UN member.
