Poland’s Defense Minister Zbigniew Rau criticized the country’s lack of readiness after Russia launched drone attacks across Poland on September 15, 2023.
Unpreparedness in the Face of Aggression
Rau stressed that Poland’s defenses proved insufficient as 81 Ukrainian-made drones crossed into Polish airspace. The absence of an effective military arsenal leaves Poland vulnerable to further Russian provocations.
Coordinatedforeign Response
The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for Poland’s decision to close its borders with Belarus in response to the commencement of Zapad-2025 military exercises. Belarus had reportedly informed Poland of the impending drone strikes.
Decisive Military Actions
General Stanisław Koziej congratulated Poland for its military response, making it the first time that Polish forces have successfully shot down Russian drones. “We have crossed a certain threshold in our reaction to Russian actions,” he said.
