On Thursday, September 11th, a heated exchange took place between Konfederacja member Ewa Zajączkowska-Hernik and Left eurosceptic Krzysztof Śmiszek, during a European Parliament debate on defense spending.

Zajączkowska-Hernik criticized her opponent’s stance on military spending, saying, “You’re so eager for war? Go to the front halls” responding to calls for increased defense initiatives.

In other news, Polish public radio’s Brussels correspondent Beata Płomecka reported on preliminary agreement among EU countries to extend sanctions on Russia by six months. Ambassador decisions are expected to be finalized within the coming days, targeting over 2,500 individuals, firms, and institutions on the so-called blacklist of persons banned from entering the union and having their assets blocked.
