Polish Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski criticized the Ministry of Education for introducing a controversial health education program that he says attempts to deprave children of beauty, innocence, and purity.
Archbishop’s Concerns About Depravation
In his Sunday homily, Archbishop Marek Jędraszewski discussed the issue of a new subject – health education. “We are in a situation where the Ministry of Education is doing everything in its power to deprive children of the beauty of self-view, the innocence of heart, to offer a child content that could deprave it, all under the guise of a health subject,” he stated.
“Time of Responsibility” for Parents
“If you, dear, beloved parents, have committed to accepting and raising your offspring in the Catholic faith upon entering marriage, now comes the time of testing, the time of responsibility. It’s a time to unequivocally say ‘no’ to this evil,” the Archbishop said, explaining that parents must demonstrate their commitment to their children’s spiritual well-being.
Health Education Criticism from the Episcopate
The Episcopate had previously voiced concerns regarding the new subject. In their statement, they suggested that the content of the new subject “does not comply with Catholic faith and exposes children and youth to serious risks that can affect their entire life, as well as family life.”
