Freedom Edge 2025 Military Drills
The joint military exercises, named “Freedom Edge 2025,” will involve the USA, Japan, and South Korea. The drills are set to begin on Monday, September 15th, and continue until Friday, September 19th, taking place in waters southeast of the South Korean island of Jeju.
Additional Capabilities Included This Year
In addition to further developing anti-missile defense capabilities, this year’s exercises will include capabilities of the Marine Corps air force and air forces, as well as expanded air defense exercises, medical evacuation training, and sea-based interception operations, according to the US Indo-Pacific Command.
Iron Mace Drills
In addition to “Freedom Edge 2025,” the US and South Korea are also planning to conduct exercises named “Iron Mace” in the same period at the US military headquarters in Korea, Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, approximately 60 kilometers south of Seoul.
