Passenger Car Driver Crashes Barrier on S8 Exit in Warsaw

A vehicle lost control on a wet road, crashing into safety barriers on the S8 highway exit to Al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia in Warsaw Sunday, causing minor fires controlled by other drivers who used fire extinguishers.

Driver Causes Accident

A driver of a passenger car crashed into energy-absorbing barriers on Sunday at around 6 PM while exiting the S8 route onto Al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia, traveling from the Grota-Roweckiego bridge towards Ochota. After the collision, smoke began coming from the engine, but the driver was unharmed and did not suffer any injuries.

Continuing Accidents in the City

Despite the recent cessation of rain in Warsaw, traffic accidents still occur frequently. The initial investigations indicate that the cause of the accident was inappropriate speed adjustment to the wet and slippery road conditions. Consequently, the vehicle, moving too fast, lost traction on the curve exit and crashed into the barriers. No passengers were injured on the spot.

Quick Response by Witnesses

Passersby came to the aid before the emergency services arrived, using their vehicle fire extinguishers to extinguish the smoke and flames originating from the engine compartment. Their quick response limited the consequences of the accident to vehicle damage and road infrastructure damage.

Hazardous Exit

The S8 exit onto Al. Prymasa Tysiąclecia in both directions is known as a recurring collision site, especially during the late autumn and winter periods. Such situations have most frequently occurred when drivers have failed to follow speed limits and have not adjusted their driving style to the road conditions on wet surfaces.
