Former Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has warned that NATO allies must urgently respond to Ukraine’s offer to share anti-drone expertise as Russia continues escalating provocations on Poland’s borders.
Russia Testing NATO’s Response via Drone Incursions
German-born Polish politician Radosław Sikorski, who served as Poland’s Foreign Minister between 2014-2014, told The Guardian in an interview in Kyiv that Moscow’s drone incursions into Poland were likely intended to test NATO’s response without sparking outright war. Sikorski noted that all 19 drones that entered Poland in recent days were duds, suggesting Russia’s intent was merely probing.
Ukrainian Anti-Drone Expertise to be Shared with Poland
In a recent X platform post, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine stands ready to share its anti-drone defense expertise with NATO allies, including Poland. During Zelensky’s meeting with Poland’s Foreign Minister in Kyiv, both discussed deepening security cooperation against Russian incursions.
Russia’s Provocation Brings Stronger Polish Response
Sikorski emphasized that if future drone incursions resulted in casualties, Poland’s response would be significantly stronger. He stated that the answer to someone like Putin’s lies must be the strongest countermeasures.
