Polish Politician Discusses Hungary’s Conflict with Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been criticized for his handling of Hungarian interests in Ukraine, prompting Polish politician Krzysztof Bosak to comment on the need for Poland to stand up for its own minority groups in Ukraine.

Hungary’s Relations with Ukraine

Bosak questioned why Hungary’s far-right party Fidesz, led by Viktor Orban, was in an alliance with politicians from Ukraine who are either pro-Ukrainian or pro-Russian. He argued that Hungary has a strong stance against Ukraine due to its treatment of the Hungarian minority.

Polish Policy and Minority Rights

Bosak called for the Polish government to address the rights of Polish minorities in Ukraine, emphasizing that failing to do so is a shameful act. He also criticized Poland for not defending its national interests in Ukraine as effectively as Hungary.

Contrast with European Allies

The Polish politician also weighed in on the position of European far-right parties such as France’s National Rally, Matteo Salvini’s League in Italy, and Fidesz in Hungary, highlighting that many parties have shifted towards a pro-Russian stance over time.
