A Polish missile caused damage to a home in Wyrki, with government sources confirming it was a Polish-made missile that malfunctioned mid-air while testing.
Polish-Made Missile Identified
A Polish missile of the air-to-air AIM-120 AMRAAM type, launched from a Polish F-16 aircraft, caused damage to a home in Wyrki during testing when it experienced guidance system failure and did not function as intended. Fortunately, it did not detonate or arm itself.
Prime Minister Statement
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that “all responsibility for the damage to the home in Wyrky falls on the authors of the drone provocation, i.e., Russia.” Tusk emphasized that the proper authorities will inform the public, government, and president after the completion of proceedings.
Government Compromise
The Ministry of National Defense (MON) confirmed that the damaged home would be rebuilt at the expense of the Polish state. The ministry also clarified that despite pending investigations, Poland considers Russia responsible for the provocation and its consequences.
Transparency Commitment
The MON stressed that all available information about the incident, which involved the intrusion of 19 Russian drones into Polish airspace with several shot down, had been and continues to be provided to the Bureau of National Security (BBN).
