Warsaw Railway Control System Failure Causes Over 30-Minute Delays

Morning rush-hour S1 and S2 SKM trains, as well as Mazovian Railway services, experienced significant delays when the Warsaw Mid-City rail control system failed.

System Failure Triggers Delays

The morning commotion on Warsaw’s mid-city rail line was disrupted when a control system failure around 4:30 am caused serious difficulties in continuing train operations for Szybka Kolej Miejska (SKM) lines S1 and S2, as well as Mazovian Railway trains. Several trains had to be rerouted through the central Warsaw station, skipping stops like Stadion, Powiśle, Śródmieście, and Ochota.

Extensive Service Disruptions

Delays reached 30+ minutes and some trains were operating on shortened routes or cancelled. Some trains were found to have delays of over 40 minutes and were potentially rerouting through the central Warsaw railway station.

Bulletin Announcements

The Warsaw Public Transport Administration also announced that all ZTM, SKM, and KM tickets would be reciprocally accepted between Warsaw East and West. According to early morning communiques, this began at 6:55 am and continued until further notice.
