Czeladź Machete Attack: Suspect Held in Custody

A taxi driver was attacked with a 50cm machete and robbed in Czeladź, Poland, on August 30; the suspect has been arrested and charged.

Attack Details

A taxi driver working for an international transport company in Czeladź, Poland, was attacked with a machete by a suspect who pressed the blade against the man’s throat and threatened him. The suspect then stole the driver’s mobile phone.

Investigation and Arrest

The taxi driver reported the incident to authorities, who reviewed surveillance footage and interviewed witnesses. As a result, the suspect was identified and apprehended. The suspect was charged with robbery using a dangerous tool, under Article 280, Paragraph 2 of the Polish Criminal Code.

Court Proceedings

The prosecutor requested a three-month temporary arrest warrant for the suspect, which was approved by the Czeladź District Court on September 11. The suspect faces a prison sentence of 3 to 20 years for the alleged crime.
