Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cautions that Poland is unprepared to defend itself against a large-scale Russian attack, citing Ukraine’s own experiences with Russian drone and missile strikes.
Recent Russian Attacks on Ukraine
According to reports, Russia has intensified its aerial attacks on Ukraine, using over 3,500 drones and nearly 190 missiles in September alone. A night attack on September 16-17 resulted in at least two fatalities and 13 injuries.
Zelensky has appealed for a unified defense against Russian “air terror,” urging partner countries to take collective action to counter Moscow’s aggression.
Zelensky’s Warning on Poland’s Defense Capabilities
In an interview with Sky News, Zelensky expressed concerns that Poland is not prepared to respond effectively to a large-scale Russian attack. He noted that while Poland’s air defense successfully destroyed Russian drones that entered its airspace, a more extensive attack would pose significant challenges.
Zelensky highlighted the disparity in the number of drones and missiles used against Ukraine compared to Poland, stating that Ukraine faced 810 drones and destroyed over 700, while Poland faced 19 drones and destroyed four.
Consequences of Russian Aggression
Zelensky emphasized that Russia has not faced significant repercussions for its attacks on Poland, citing a lack of consequences for its actions. He warned that the Russian war machine will only halt when it runs out of resources and Vladimir Putin decides to stop it.
