Polish Border Guard officers arrested 17 foreigners, mostly Colombians, for violating stay regulations during a check at a Kozienice county bakery on September 17.
Details of the Detention
On September 17, officers from the Radom Border Guard Post conducted a control of foreigners’ legal stay, detaining 17 individuals at a bakery in Kozienice county, Mazovian Voivodeship.
The detainees included 15 Colombians and one Venezuelan who had exceeded their permitted stay in Poland, despite initially entering and staying without needing a visa or other stay documents.
Additional Irregularities
Another Colombian citizen, legally staying in Poland, was also detained as their data indicated they were being sought by Polish justice; they were to be taken to the nearest arrest.
Administrative Proceedings
Administrative proceedings were initiated for all detainees regarding their obligation to return; in six cases, decisions were issued ordering them to leave Poland and banning them from re-entering Schengen zone countries for one year.
The other detainees submitted applications for temporary residence and work permits to the Voivode, which the Border Guard will verify for legitimacy during their legal stay.
Further Control Measures
Due to the scale of irregularities found at the bakery, the Border Guard initiated a control into the legality of employing foreigners at this company.
