Polish meteorologists have released their first winter weather forecasts, predicting temperatures to be close to average in December, with potential snowfall in the second half of November or early December.
Winter Weather Forecast
The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW) has published an experimental long-term forecast for the next few months. According to the forecast, December temperatures are expected to be close to multi-year averages, with total precipitation also within the norm.
In January, however, the average temperature is expected to be above normal, with higher-than-usual precipitation, making it a potentially wet month.
First Snowfall Expected
According to the American CFS predictive model, winter in Poland is expected to be mild, with the first signs of winter weather appearing on December 1 and lasting until February 28.
The forecast suggests that with average temperatures potentially higher by up to 1.5°C, Poland can expect more rainfall than snowfall. However, the first snowfalls are expected in the second half of November or early December, with more intense snowfall in mountainous regions.
End of Summer
According to meteorologists, the upcoming weekend will be sunny, with temperatures potentially exceeding 26°C in most of the country. However, from next week, it will be significantly colder, with maximum temperatures not exceeding 18°C.
The IMGW also reports that hydrological drought is currently present in many parts of the country, with a low fire risk in most Polish forests.
