PAP published a correction on September 19 after a Thursday dispatch contained a translation error or misinterpretation of US President Donald Trump’s words.
The original dispatch incorrectly attributed to Trump words about “helping Poland,” while in fact, in an interview with Fox News, Trump did not mention any country.
Trump’s Actual Statement
In the interview, Trump was asked if America would send its own fighter jets or Patriot systems after the UK and other allies sent air support to Poland.
He replied, “We’re helping in terms of intelligence… But when I talked about air support, I had in mind the security after the war ends.”
Reaction and Defense
PAP’s management expressed opposition to personal attacks on its journalists, stating they have full trust in them and that the error was corrected and not concealed.
The agency emphasized that it publishes around 400 dispatches daily, maintaining the highest standards, and that credibility and trust are fundamental to its operation.
