Roman Polański received a special tribute in Olsztyn, Poland, during the 9th Warmia and Mazury Culture Forum, organized by the local government.
Roman Polański’s Tribute
Roman Polański was honored during the 9th Warmia and Mazury Culture Forum in Olsztyn, Poland, on September 19. The event was organized by the local government of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Polański was awarded a special commemorative statuette.
Forum and Tribute Details
Marcin Kuchciński, the Marshal of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, praised Polański, saying, “Jerzy Skolimowski, Allan Starski, Anna Sheppard, and Roman Polański! Icons of world cinema in one place, at the same time – in the capital of Warmia and Mazury.”
Kuchciński added that sharing the stage with Polański was an immense experience and a challenge.
Connection to Warmia and Mazury
The tribute was not a coincidence, as Polański’s first film, “Knife in the Water,” which brought him fame and was nominated for an Oscar, was filmed in the region. Polański stated that he fell in love with Mazury during his film school years and decided to make his first film there.
