Serious Accident at Construction Site: Worker Crushed by Falling Pallet

A 47-year-old man was seriously injured when a pallet loaded with materials fell from a height and crushed him at a construction site on Sienna Street 51 in Warsaw’s Wola district around 7 am.

Circumstances of the Accident

According to initial findings, a crane was lifting a pallet with a load when the straps broke, causing the pallet to fall from a height and crush the worker. The victim suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to a hospital by a medical rescue team.

Safety Regulations on Construction Sites

Construction work is considered one of the most hazardous occupations, with detailed occupational health and safety (BHP) regulations in place. These regulations cover the organization of the workplace, employer and employee duties, and include the use of technical safety measures such as barriers, protective nets, and hazard zone markings.

Workers are required to use personal protective equipment, including safety helmets, reflective vests, gloves, and protective footwear. Regular BHP training is also crucial, preparing workers to respond to emergency situations and emphasizing safe work practices at heights, when using machinery, and in storage areas.

Employer’s Responsibilities and Inspections

Employers are responsible for ensuring safe working conditions, providing proper tools, and supervising adherence to procedures. The State Labor Inspection conducts checks to verify compliance with regulations, and negligence in this regard can lead to severe consequences.
