Vandalism at Łódź Court: Obscene Graffiti Targets Prime Minister and Minister of Justice

A 62-year-old man was arrested for vandalizing the Łódź District Court building with obscene graffiti targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek.

On the night of September 18, the Łódź District Court building was vandalized with obscene graffiti, including messages targeting Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek. The perpetrator also spilled paint on the entrance stairs of the court.

A 62-year-old man was arrested the following day by the Łódź police. The suspect was found to have paint cans in his home during a search. He faces charges of destroying property, unintentionally damaging a historical monument, and insulting constitutional organs of the Polish Republic, which could result in a prison sentence of up to 5 years.

The vandalism is estimated to have caused damages exceeding 71,000 PLN. The suspect is believed to have also vandalized other buildings in Łódź, including the District Court, a tenement house on Piotrkowska Street, and a building on Więckowskiego Street, as well as spilling paint in the area of Plac Dąbrowskiego.

Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek commented on the incident on social media, stating that while comments about him might be “funny,” the vandalism was an act of hate and destruction of public property.
