Migrants Dig Tunnel on Belarus-Poland Border, Border Guard Reveals Footage

Polish border guards discovered a tunnel dug by four foreign nationals attempting to illegally cross from Belarus into Poland on September 19.

Attempted Border Crossing

According to information provided by border guards, an alert about an attempted illegal border crossing from Belarus to Poland was received on September 19. The incident occurred in Narewka, where a group of four foreign nationals dug a tunnel under the fence separating the two countries.

Polish services registered the border crossing thanks to an “electronic barrier.”

Footage of the Tunnel

The Podlaskie Border Guard Unit published footage showing the tunnel. It was added that despite the area near the border on the Belarusian side being accessible only to Belarusian services, migrants continue to appear there with their consent, attempting to illegally enter Poland.

Other Border Incidents

On September 18, the Border Guard recorded 60 attempts to illegally cross from Belarus into Poland. People attempting to cross the border threw stones at Polish patrols. Actions are being taken to apprehend eight individuals.

Border Closure

Poland closed its border with Belarus due to Belarusian-Russian military exercises, Zapad. Border crossings will remain closed until further notice. The border will be reopened when it is fully safe, according to Karolina Gałecka, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and Administration.
