Investigative journalists claim Vladimir Putin, then 58, had a year-long romance with 17-year-old Alisa Charcheva, a journalism student, between 2010 and 2011.
Background of the Alleged Affair
Investigative journalists from the independent Russian portal “Projekt” have alleged that Vladimir Putin, during his tenure as Prime Minister of Russia between 2010-2011, regularly met with 17-year-old Alisa Charcheva, a prospective journalism student at Moscow State University.
The Initiation of the Relationship
The alleged romance began after the creation of an erotic calendar featuring 12 semi-nude women, mostly journalism students at Moscow State University, which was given to Putin on his 58th birthday. Charcheva, who was not a student at the time but a candidate, was among the women, and her contact information was included with the calendar.
The Course of the Affair and Its Aftermath
The affair reportedly lasted about a year, during which Charcheva frequently visited Putin’s suburban residence. She received numerous gifts from Putin and, in 2015, was given a luxury apartment in the center of Moscow by Grigory Baevsky, associated with Putin’s friend Arkady Rotenberg.
Current Status of Alisa Charcheva
Charcheva currently goes by the name Achilgova, is married, and operates a solarium in Moscow. Her father, a professional hockey player, has worked in a propaganda organization connected to the Ministry of Defense since 2020, leading to speculation about his qualifications for the role.
