Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denounced the recognition of Palestine as a state by several countries, warning of a response in the coming days.
Netanyahu’s Response
Benjamin Netanyahu stated during a weekly government meeting that the creation of an independent Palestinian state would threaten Israel’s interests and constitute an “absurd reward for Hamas’s terror.”
He vowed that Israel would react in the coming days and fight against “false propaganda” targeting Israel and calls for a Palestinian state.
International Recognition
Several countries, including the UK, Canada, and Australia, have recognized Palestine as a state, joining other G20 nations that have made similar decisions.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that Canada recognizes the Palestinian state and offers support for a peaceful future for Palestine and Israel.
Conditions for Peace
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong announced that Australia will support the establishment of a Palestinian state, emphasizing the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stressed that recognizing Palestine is a way to preserve hope for peace, citing the need for a two-state solution and the release of Israeli hostages.
