Sikorski Clashes with Nawrocki Over Klich’s Ambassador Nomination

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski and President’s aide Karol Nawrocki engage in a public dispute over Bogdan Klich’s nomination as ambassador to the United States.

Dispute Over Ambassador Nomination

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has publicly urged President’s aide Karol Nawrocki to “call his colleagues to order” amid a dispute over Bogdan Klich’s nomination as ambassador to the United States.

Sikorski expressed his concerns on social media, stating that publicly disavowing Poland’s representative in Washington during a trip to the US is “unprofessional and harmful.”

Background of the Dispute

The dispute between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the President’s Office has been ongoing, with the main issue being the nomination of ambassadors.

The situation began when Sikorski, as the new Foreign Minister, recalled several dozen ambassadors, but many of the newly appointed diplomats have not received recommendations from the President’s Office.

Significance of the Dispute

The dispute has resulted in a paralysis of the foreign service, with key ambassador positions, including the one in the United States, remaining vacant.

Bogdan Klich, who was nominated by the government, has been serving as the chargé d’affaires in Washington, but his nomination as ambassador has not been approved by President Andrzej Duda or Nawrocki.
