Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and ex-Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro engage in a public dispute over responsibility for the ruling Law and Justice party’s electoral defeat.
Background of the Dispute
Mateusz Morawiecki recently gave an interview to Kanał Zero, where he admitted to being in a deep dispute with Zbigniew Ziobro over the judicial reform process.
Morawiecki expressed disappointment that the Ministry of Justice had not made sufficient progress in areas such as streamlining court proceedings and digitalization.
Ziobro’s Response
Ziobro responded to Morawiecki’s comments on social media, stating that while they were indeed in a deep dispute, he had consistently warned Morawiecki about the risks of conceding to Brussels’ demands.
Ziobro accused Morawiecki of now distancing himself from the policies he had previously implemented as Prime Minister and attempting to shift blame for the party’s electoral defeat onto him and Suwerenna Polska.
Call for Public Debate
Ziobro offered to engage in a public debate with Morawiecki to discuss their differences and the party’s future.
Reactions from Other Politicians
Tobiasz Bocheński, a PiS vice-president, appeared on Polsat News and suggested that a debate between Morawiecki and Ziobro could be held on the station.
Donald Tusk, the current Prime Minister, commented on the dispute, jokingly suggesting that both Morawiecki and Ziobro were responsible for the party’s electoral defeat.
