Firefighter Sławomir Nocuń, a member of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Michałów, died on September 19, 2025, due to injuries sustained during a rescue operation on September 11.
Circumstances of the Incident
The incident occurred during an intervention at a nest of wasps. Nocuń was stung while removing the nest and was hospitalized. He lost consciousness after the operation and was treated in the hospital.
Tributes and Condolences
The Polish State Fire Service (PSP) confirmed that Nocuń’s death was a result of the injuries sustained during the rescue operation. The PSP and the Volunteer Fire Brigades Association expressed condolences to Nocuń’s family and colleagues.
A memorial service will be held, with units from PSP and OSP paying their respects with light and sound signals on September 22 at 18:00.
Official Response
The Świętokrzyski Provincial Commander of the PSP offered condolences to Nocuń’s family and close ones. The community is in mourning, and details of the funeral will be announced separately.
