Polish Journalist Invited to the US, Right-Wing Blogger Alarms Future Ambassador

Polish journalist Jakub Wiech has been invited by the US Department of State to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program, sparking criticism from right-wing blogger Paweł Rybicki.

Journalist’s US Visit

Jakub Wiech, editor-in-chief of the portal Energetyka24.com, announced on Sunday that he had been invited by the US Department of State to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program. The program allows participants to travel across America and observe the country’s energy sector.

The US Embassy in Warsaw informed that participants in the program are selected by US foreign service officials, and there is no application process. Visits to the US under the program typically last up to three weeks, with around 4,000 foreigners participating each year.

Criticism from Right-Wing Blogger

Paweł Rybicki, a right-wing blogger, expressed surprise at Wiech’s invitation on his portal X. Rybicki has published articles on Niezalezna.pl and previously hosted a program on Poland24 TV. He also managed social media for Andrzej Duda’s presidential campaign.

Rybicki criticized Wiech for his past criticism of US President Donald Trump and his support for EU climate policy. Wiech has been known for his critical stance towards right-wing politicians.

Reaction from Journalist and Politician

Wiech responded to Rybicki by blocking him on portal X, stating that engaging with him would be “excessive validation.”

Adrian Zandberg, a lawmaker from the Razem party, defended Wiech, criticizing Rybicki for his actions.
