Polish Presidential Aide Calls for Government Confrontation Over Drone Incident

Sławomir Cenckiewicz, head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, has called for a confrontation with government members over documents related to a recent drone incident.

Drone Incident and Government Response

Cenckiewicz proposed a “confrontation on notes” with the government, specifically targeting Minister Tomasz Siemoniak and government spokesperson Jacek Dobrzyński. He suggested that a parliamentary commission could review documents related to the drone incident.

The incident involved several Russian drones entering Polish airspace on September 9-10. One building, a house in Wyryki, Lublin province, was destroyed, with various theories emerging about the cause.

Conflicting Accounts of the Incident

Cenckiewicz stated that the National Security Bureau received a note about the drone incident, but it did not relate to the destruction of the house in Wyryki. He contradicted reports that a Polish F-16’s anti-aircraft missile might have caused the damage.

Government members, including Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, have attributed responsibility for the house’s destruction to Russia, without providing detailed explanations.

Investigation and Parliamentary Oversight

The incident is still under investigation by the prosecutor’s office. Cenckiewicz suggested that a parliamentary commission could examine the documents related to the drone incident, given that they are classified at a low level.
