Fire Breaks Out in UOKiK Archive in Warsaw’s Śródmieście

A fire occurred at the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) building in Warsaw’s city center on Tuesday before 11 am.

On Tuesday, before 11 am, a fire broke out at the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) building at Plac Powstańców Warszawy in the center of Warsaw’s Śródmieście district.

Fire Response and Evacuation

According to the fire department, dense smoke appeared on the -1 level, where the archive is located. The source of the fire has not yet been identified, making it difficult to carry out the firefighting operation. About 120 people evacuated the building before emergency services arrived.

No one was injured, according to preliminary information. Four firefighting teams, the commander of Rescue and Firefighting Unit No. 4, the city’s operational group, and police crews are working at the scene.

Investigation and Safety Measures

The police are securing the area around the building to allow firefighters to work safely. The movement in the area of Plac Powstańców Warszawy may be restricted. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
