Poland is set to experience a drop in temperature with the first frosts of the season expected in the coming days, particularly in the north and south of the country.
Return of Frosts to Poland
Poland is to be hit by cold polar maritime air, transformed from arctic masses, as reported by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW). The coldest night is expected to be from Tuesday to Wednesday (23-24 September), especially in the north and south of the country.
In the Sudeten valleys, temperatures may drop to as low as -1°C, with ground frosts forecasted. These frosts may occur locally in the south of the country, while in the north, temperatures will drop to 3-5°C.
Regional Weather Forecasts
Synoptics warn of fogs that will limit visibility to even 300 meters. From Wednesday to Thursday night, the cold will be most felt in the north-east, where the temperature will drop to 1°C, and at ground level, it will reach -2°C.
The lowest temperatures are expected in the north-eastern regions, particularly in Suwalszczyzna and Lubelszczyzna. Residents are advised to secure plants against night-time cold, as ground frosts can damage them.
Weather Outlook for the Week
The warmest spot will be by the sea, with temperatures around 11°C in the Hel Peninsula. Over the coming days, Poland will experience cooler and more autumnal weather, with more clouds and precipitation.
However, from the weekend, the weather is expected to improve, with more sunshine and calmer winds. Long-term forecasts indicate that the end of September and the beginning of October will see moderate, typically autumnal temperatures.
