Russian Drones Breach Polish Airspace, Wreckage Search Underway

Polish soldiers are searching for remnants of missiles used to down Russian drones that entered the country’s airspace on September 9-10.

Search Efforts Intensify

About 150 soldiers are combing through areas in eastern Poland, specifically in Hrubieszów, Krasnostawski, and Włodawski counties, to locate debris from missiles used to intercept the drones.

The search is focused on locations identified through military analysis as potential impact zones for the drone wreckage and missile remnants.

Incident Details

On the night of September 9-10, Russian drones, mostly described as decoys, entered Polish airspace. One unidentified object caused damage in Wyryki, Lublin Voivodeship, when it destroyed the roof of a private home.

The damage was caused by fragments of a missile fired from a Polish F-16 fighter jet, which attempted to down the drone. The missile experienced a guidance system failure and crashed onto the building without detonating.
