Polish media report potential changes in the government, including a possible replacement of the Prime Minister with Radosław Sikorski, linked to the signing of a deal with Westinghouse for Poland’s first nuclear power plant.
Police Personnel Changes
According to media reports, Krzysztof Ogroński has been appointed as the new head of the Warsaw police, effective September 24. Marcin Kierwiński, the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration, approved Ogroński’s candidacy and signed his official appointment.
Ogroński previously served as a deputy to the then-Commander for Criminal Matters and spent eight years in retirement. He replaced Inspector Dariusz Walichnowski in the role.
Potential Government Changes
The authors of the podcast “W związku ze śledztwem” noted that changes may also occur in the position of Prime Minister. According to informants who rely on the opinion of American business representatives in Poland, Radosław Sikorski may take over as Prime Minister next year.
This potential change is linked to the signing of an agreement with Westinghouse for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant in Lubiatowo-Kopalino, Pomerania, expected to take place in May or June.
Changes at Orlen
Journalists also report possible changes at Orlen, related to Sławomir Jędrzejczyk’s entry into the management team, responsible for the company’s financial matters. Jędrzejczyk replaced Magdalena Bartoś, who was the financial director and right-hand woman of the current Orlen CEO, Ireneusz Fąfara.
According to informants, Jędrzejczak is considered a “man” of Jacek Krawiec, who may replace Ireneusz Fąfara as CEO.
