The District Prosecutor’s Office in Pułtusk has launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred on September 12, 2025, in Lorcin, Nasielsk municipality, nowodworski county.
Circumstances of the Incident
The child’s mother had left him in the care of his father while she went home due to pregnancy-related discomfort. The father, believing his partner was watching the children, began felling a tree near the plot. The 3-year-old boy, along with two other children aged 10 and 11, was supposed to go home under the father’s instruction.
However, the boy moved out of the adult’s supervision and into the tree felling area unnoticed. He was only spotted by his father when he was hit by a falling branch. The boy suffered multiple head and face injuries.
Emergency Response and Cause of Death
Despite reanimation efforts and transportation to the Children’s Clinical Hospital in Warsaw by air ambulance, the child died on September 13, 2025. A post-mortem examination was conducted, revealing that the cause of death was a cranio-cerebral trauma.
Investigation
The investigation concerns the crime under Article 160 §2 of the Criminal Code and Article 155 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 11 §2 of the Criminal Code, specifically for leaving a minor without supervision and causing his death.
