Polish intelligence services are investigating Sławomir Cenckiewicz’s participation in a classified meeting after he was denied security clearance.
Dispute Over Cenckiewicz’s Security Clearance
The Military Counterintelligence Service revoked Sławomir Cenckiewicz’s security clearance in 2024, required for access to classified documents. In June 2025, the Administrative Court overturned the prime minister’s and the service’s decision to revoke the clearance. The Prime Minister’s Chancellery has since filed an appeal against this ruling. Meanwhile, presidential spokesman Rafał Leśkiewicz stated in September that Cenckiewicz retains valid security clearance due to the court’s June decision. Notably, Cenckiewicz faces prosecutorial charges of aiding former defense minister Mariusz Błaszczak in leaking Poland’s secret defense plans.
Siemoniak on the RBN Meeting
Tomasz Siemoniak, speaking to Polish Radio, noted that the Internal Security Agency (ABW) and Military Counterintelligence Service (SKW) determine access to classified information. He emphasized that Cenckiewicz lacks such access, prompting the ABW to inquire about his involvement in a secret meeting. Siemoniak assured that no classified information was shared during the meeting, but acknowledged a breach of protocol due to its restricted nature. He warned that government officials cannot discuss protected matters in Cenckiewicz’s presence, as it would expose them to criminal liability.
The Case of Cenckiewicz’s Notes
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the minister coordinating special services, dismissed Cenckiewicz’s call for a “confrontation over notes.” Dobrzyński argued that Cenckiewicz, lacking access to classified information, should never have been granted such clearance. The dispute stems from a damaged house in Wyryki, allegedly hit by a Polish F-16 missile during a Russian drone attack. Cenckiewicz denied the existence of an official note describing the incident, though he claimed to trust individuals in the Presidential Chancellery and BBN who claimed to have seen it.
