The Constitutional Court’s president has criticized a Warsaw court’s decision to detain Zbigniew Ziobro, calling it a violation of a temporary ruling.
Court’s Detention Order
The court ruled to detain Zbigniew Ziobro, referencing a September 16, 2025, decision by the Warsaw District Court. This pertains to his compulsory appearance before an investigative commission on September 29, following a request by the commission itself.
Constitutional Court’s Temporary Ruling
In a September 25 letter to Police General Inspector Marek Boron, Constitutional Court President Bogdan Święczkowski reminded authorities of the court’s August 8 temporary ruling. This ruling prohibited issuing any detention orders against Ziobro, including those related to the investigative commission’s probe into the use of Pegasus software.
Unlawful Court Decision
Święczkowski emphasized that the Warsaw District Court’s September 16 decision directly contradicts the Constitutional Court’s temporary ruling, deeming it “completely unlawful.”
Police Urged to Uphold Legal Order
Święczkowski urged the police to take necessary actions to uphold Poland’s legal order, including adhering to constitutional and procedural norms. He warned that enforcing the court’s decision could lead to legal and criminal liability for police officers involved.
