On-duty police officer injured in motorcycle crash near zoo

A 27-year-old police officer on duty was hospitalized after colliding with a Kia car at the intersection of Ratuszowa and Wybrzeża Helskiego.

Collision details

A collision between a motorcycle and a Kia car occurred around 6:40 AM on Thursday, September 25, at the intersection of Ratuszowa and Wybrzeża Helskiego streets. The injured motorcyclist, a police officer on duty, was taken to the hospital with limb injuries. Additionally, a personal Toyota was damaged by the motorcycle’s ricochet.

Investigation findings

Initial investigations revealed that the 27-year-old Kia driver ran a red light, causing the collision with the motorcyclist traveling along Wybrzeża Helskiego. Both participants were sober. A drug test conducted on the car driver detected THC. The man was detained for further proceedings, and police secured evidence for laboratory analysis.

Aftermath and ongoing proceedings

After the collision, firefighters secured spilled fluids and damaged vehicle parts, and traffic near the Warsaw zoo was disrupted until the completion of emergency services’ work. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and potential traffic law violations.
