A drunk Mercedes driver led police on a dangerous chase through Warsaw’s Białołęka district, ending near a police station.
Incident Details
On Sunday, September 21, an unusual event unfolded in Warsaw’s Białołęka district. A drunk Mercedes driver fled through the streets, with the chase concluding near a police station on Myśliborska Street.
Conflict Origins
The incident began on Odkrytej Street, where two men—a BMW driver and the Mercedes driver—confronted each other. The dispute reportedly stemmed from a previous financial argument and allegations of fraud. When the BMW driver arrived, another altercation occurred.
Dangerous Pursuit
A 48-year-old man, under the influence of alcohol, drove the Mercedes recklessly through Białołęka. Witnesses reported he drove on sidewalks, against traffic, and nearly hit pedestrians near a shop. The BMW driver attempted to block his path, exited his vehicle, and tried to break the Mercedes’ window. The intoxicated driver then accelerated, hitting the BMW multiple times before continuing his escape.
Arrest and Aftermath
The chase ended when the Mercedes collided with bollards near the police station. Officers arrested the driver, who registered 3 per mille alcohol in a breathalyzer test. He was taken to a detention cell, and his car was impounded. The next day, he faced charges of driving under the influence. Police documented the collision and referred the case to the prosecutor’s office. Further questioning of the BMW driver is planned to clarify the incident.
