German authorities are investigating drone sightings over Schleswig-Holstein for potential espionage and sabotage.
Investigation underway in Schleswig-Holstein
The Ministry of the Interior for the German state of Schleswig-Holstein issued a statement on Friday, September 26, confirming drone sightings overnight. Authorities are probing the incident for possible espionage and sabotage.
Schleswig-Holstein is coordinating with the federal government and military. Sabine Suetterlin-Waack, the state’s interior minister, stated that regional authorities are in close contact with federal officials and the armed forces.
“Following recent incidents in Denmark and other European countries, Schleswig-Holstein is maintaining continuous consultations with the federal government and German military,” she emphasized.
Drone reports in Denmark
On Monday, September 22, drones led to the closure of Copenhagen Airport. Similar incidents were reported near other Danish airports in the following days, including Aalborg and Esbjerg.
