Polish regulations define the heating season based on weather conditions, but exact start dates vary yearly.
Heating Season Definition
The heating season 2025/2026 begins when atmospheric conditions require continuous heat supply for buildings, as per the Ministry of Economy’s regulations. However, the law does not specify exact dates for housing cooperatives or condominiums to activate central heating in apartment blocks. Typically, the season starts in late September or early October in Poland.
Minimum Indoor Temperatures
Another key regulation, issued by the Ministry of Infrastructure, sets minimum indoor temperatures for occupied spaces. Central heating must be activated to maintain 20°C in living rooms and 24°C in bathrooms when necessary.
What to Do If Heating Isn’t Turned On
If a housing cooperative or condominium fails to turn on central heating despite falling temperatures, residents can propose a resolution to compel the manager to activate the system. If this fails, residents may seek compensation or reimbursement for self-funded heating costs.
