WKD Weekend Disruptions: Single-Track Operations and Transfer Hubs

Warsaw Commuter Rail (WKD) will operate on a single track between Komorów and Podkowa Leśna Główna this weekend for track maintenance.

Service Adjustments

From September 27–28, 2025, Track 1 will be closed for new rail deliveries, forcing all trains to use Track 2 in both directions. These changes are part of the “Improving Safety in WKD Passenger Transport” project, which includes rail and switch replacements. The modified schedule will run from 3:00 AM Friday to 3:00 AM Monday, suspending regular weekend service.

Frequency and Routes

Trains between Komorów and Podkowa Leśna Zachodnia will run every 40 minutes. The main route (Warsaw Śródmieście WKD to Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska) will also operate every 40 minutes, but services to/from Milanówek will terminate at Podkowa Leśna Zachodnia, requiring transfers every 40–80 minutes. Passengers will have a 6-minute layover at the transfer point.

Transfer Details

At Podkowa Leśna Zachodnia, Platform 1 (right side toward Warsaw) will serve trains to Warsaw Śródmieście WKD and Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska. Platform 2 (right side toward Grodzisk Mazowiecki) will handle only trains to Milanówek Grudów, where arriving trains from Milanówek will reverse direction after a driver change.

Tickets and Validations

WKD confirms that the 6-minute transfer time is temporary and does not invalidate tickets. Special fare tables apply during maintenance. Additionally, all valid WKD periodic tickets will be honored on Mazowieckie Railways (KM) between Grodzisk Mazowiecki and Warsaw Śródmieście on September 27–28, 2025, in both directions. KM has confirmed this arrangement.

Passenger Impact

Trains will run on a single track between Komorów and Podkowa Leśna Zachodnia (via Podkowa Leśna Główna) with a 40-minute frequency. The Warsaw Śródmieście WKD–Grodzisk Mazowiecki Radońska route will maintain 40-minute intervals, while Milanówek connections will require transfers at Podkowa Leśna Zachodnia (every 40–80 minutes). The planned 6-minute transfer time is mandatory at this station.
